Healthy Breakfast Toppers!

Everyone knows breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It wakes up your metabolism, gives you long lasting energy and keeps your mind alert. But eating clean meals for breakfast can sometimes get a bit boring if you’re not switching things up that often. Even oatmeal although great for you, can get bland with just your average brown sugar and raisins. No need to worry, you can get out of the breakfast rut by adding in flavor, nutrients and texture with a quick fix of fresh ingredients to your cereal, smoothie, oatmeal, or whatever you prefer in the morning.

Make your morning meal a hearty one that packed full of flavour and goodness to get you through the day with lots of energy.

So for those mornings when you just can’t take another bland breakfast you can be sure that there are some great options available to spruce it up! For whatever your taste buds are in the mood for here is a quick go to list to refer to:

Omega 3 fatty acids

1 tbs of grounded flax seed

1 tbs of grounded chia seeds ¼ cup of walnuts

Protein

¼ cup of unsalted nuts

1 tbs natural peanut butter ½ cup low fat Greek yogurt

½ cup quinoa, instead of oats (only plant source that’s a complete protein)

Fibre

2 tbs psyllium husk

2 tbs wheat germ

¼ cup granola

Fruit

½  a banana

1 med apple

¼ cup chopped mejool dates (natures candy)

Spices

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

1 vanilla bean

Antioxidants

½  cup acai berries

½  cup blueberries

2 tbs of goji berries

1 tbs dark chocolate shavings

Calcium

½ cup unsweetened almond milk

¼ cup Sesame seeds

Sweet tooth

1 tbs raw honey

1 tbs agave nectar

2 tbs shredded coconut

So whatever you’re lacking in your breakfast you can simply add to your next meal. It’s important to make sure your refueling your body with the right stuff in order to feel as good as you can; your body will thank you!
