It’s a new season and month so it’s time for a new way of thinking. This month let’s focus on rewards to help keep you motivated for each time you reach a health and/or fitness goal. Just because it’s not beach season doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be striving to have a beach bod all year round. Besides who knows you could be asked on a surprise getaway somewhere down south… wouldn’t it be great if you could just say YES, because your comfortably in your skin. Even if you’re not heading south this winter, how about for the simple fact that you’re going to feel 1000 times better in your mood and overall outlook when you’re feeling fit and at the top of your game. You’ll be able to think more clearly, relieve your stress, and feel more energized to get through the day with a smile.
Now back to the rewards… It’s important to treat yourself not only at the end of your goal but when you reach small milestones on your way there. Maybe your end goal is to lose 20 lbs.; well you could treat yourself every 5 lbs. or so.
Just think if you were working 2 jobs to save up for your dream car or a new house you wouldn’t want to never treat yourself to reward you of your hard saving right? If you give yourself small rewards you remind yourself why you’re working so hard and it will lift your mood and keep you motivated towards your end goal. Remember people we are NOT robots so don’t treat you like one. Each day is important and the way you feel each day is important.
By treating yourself I do not mean going out for ice cream or buying those expensive name brand boots you can’t afford. I’m talking about healthy rewards like buying a new cookbook or a couple new iTunes songs on your iPod. I was my birthday last Friday (Sept 28th) so I was treated by my mother with some hot new kicks! And I have to say they definitely make me want to hit the track or treadmill and run my little heart out:)
